The first step, which may seem obvious but can sometimes be forgotten, is to check that you have put enough water in the tank. At the same time, check that your water tank is correctly positioned and fitted.

Check the tank float, if it is stuck, clean the tank with soapy water and unstuck it before starting your machine again.

Tassimo reset problem

Another possibility is that the Tassimo needs to be reset. To do this, simply unplug it and plug it back in or press the reset button if your model has one.

The Tassimo is scaled

If you have checked the above points, it is possible that your coffee maker is scaled. Limescale deposits in the water circuit prevent it from flowing normally. It is essential to descale your Tassimo on a regular basis, normally a red light comes on when your machine needs descaling.

This should be done frequently, several times a year, to keep your coffee maker in good working order and extend its life. Limescale can be the cause of several breakdowns when it deposits on components. We give you the procedure for descaling the Tassimo in the following paragraph.

Repairing a Tassimo that has a flow problem

The most likely cause is that your Tassimo needs to be descaled. To descale it you will need descaling tablets or powder. You can also do it with vinegar, it works but the manufacturers don’t recommend it for their machine unless it’s an emergency. According to them, white vinegar can damage the coffee maker.

Do not hesitate to descale your Tassimo regularly, in some regions the water is hard, i.e. it contains a lot of limestone which damages the coffee machines when it is deposited in the water circuit or on its components. Moreover, your coffee will be better.

Here is the procedure to descale a Tassimo:

  1. Fill the water tank with two descaling tablets.
  2. Allow the tablets to dissolve in the water.
  3. Remove the yellow maintenance disc and put it bar-coded downwards, where you normally put the TDisk or coffee pod.
  4. Replace the water tank on the machine.
  5. Put a half-litre container in the place where the coffee cup normally goes.
  6. Start the descaling program by pressing the button for five seconds.
  7. Wait 30 minutes for the program to finish.
  8. After 30 minutes the orange light will come on to warn you that the descaling is finished.
  9. Rinse the tank, fill it and put it back on the machine.
  10. Empty the container with the used descaling solution.
  11. Rerun the cleaning cycle 3 or 4 times until all traces of descaler have disappeared.
  12. At the end remove the maintenance disc and store it.
  13. Fill the water tank, you can now start a coffee.
