There are essentially two causes for a Dolce Gusto that does not pierce the capsules:
- the water pump that sends pressurized water to pierce the capsule malfunctions: in the following paragraph you will see how to restart and test the Dolce Gusto pump;
- the nozzle that pierces the Dolce Gusto capsules is dirty or damaged.

How to repair a Dolce Gusto that no longer perforates the capsules
Disconnect your Dolce Gusto from the mains before carrying out any electrical work.
Dolce Gusto no longer pierces capsules: clean the piercing nozzle
A nozzle allows the water under pressure to pierce the capsules. If the nozzle is clogged or clogged, it cannot pierce the capsules of the Dolce Gusto. It must be cleaned.
To clean the perforating nozzle, the coffee maker must be dismantled:
- Remove the tank with the easily removable parts.
- Where the reservoir is normally located, towards the middle of the coffee maker, there is the cleaning spring for the nozzle. It is like a small needle.
- Next, locate the nozzle that pierces the capsules: above the capsule holder.
- Push the spring into the nozzle hole to remove impurities such as scale, coffee grounds, etc.

Dolce Gusto does not pierce the capsules: reboot the Dolce Gusto and test the Dolce Gusto pump
The Dolce Gusto pump has stopped working if the coffee maker was operated with an empty water tank. Follow the procedure to restart the Dolce Gusto’s water pump.
If the pump doesn’t reboot, you need to test the Dolce Gusto pump. This is a rather delicate operation, so if you are not comfortable with it, have it done by a professional repairman. It involves disassembling the machine to access the pump and check its operation outside the Dolce Gusto.
